Learning content on ClassCampus may make use of one or more ActiveX components. This is a Microsoft technology which allows closer integration between the learning content and the Windows workstation computer. The ActiveX components we supply are designed to work with Microsoft Internet Explorer, other browsers may not support these components. All LJ's ActiveX components are signed with our digital certificate.
The majority of learning content running on ClassCampus will function without the ActiveX components although some functionality may be restricted. Details on the different components are given in the sections below.
All LJ learning content pages running on ClassCampus that require the use of ActiveX components have been designed to download the components automatically. However, since most students in a learning environment are unlikely to have permissions to install components, these pages would need to be accessed while logged on as an Administrator to perform the install. Once installed, all users would need to be allowed to 'run' the installed LJ signed ActiveX.
This component is used by the majority of the eContent range of learning content and provides application launching and fault switching functionality. Without this component, links within the learning content that launch applications will be replaced with instructions on how to run the application manually from the Windows Start Menu. Automatic fault switching to connected LJ hardware will also not function.
The files required to install or deploy this component can be downloaded from here. Alternatively click here to install the components to this computer (you will need Admin permissions).
These components enable older ClassAct CD based learning materials to be run through ClassCampus. They provide the link from the ClassCampus site to content provided on a CD inserted into the local computer. Only install these components if this older type of CD based content is being used.
Click here to install 'Run from CD' support (you will need Admin permissions).
These components are used to allow faults/functions to be switched into compatible hardware (such as the D3000 Experiment Platform) and application launching using ClassAct type application codes. This component is only required for older style learning content and has been replaced with the eContent HTML Function component above.
Click here to install the older Fault/Function switching support (you will need Admin permissions).
